About the Youth Board

The Boise Pony Club Youth Board is made up of members in good standing that are in 7th grade and above.  It is designed to promote team building within the club and allows the members a voice in the running of the club.  The President of the Youth Board attends all Boise Pony Club Board meetings and represents the members and their ideas.

 

Activities 

The following are activities that may be held by the Youth Board in any given year.  It is up to that year’s membership to determine which activities they select.

  • Team Building
    • “Fun” activities outside of normal Pony Club activities designed to build friendships
  • Club Input
    • The President will attend Boise Pony Club Board meetings a voice the input of the membership
  • Friends and Family
    • Organize and hold a Friends and Family showcase to allow everyone to see the member’s achievements
  • Land Conservation project
    • Organize a Land Conservation project for the membership to participate in as a way of giving back to the community.
  • Other activities as determined by the Youth Board membership

 

Youth board bylaws:

Membership – Any 7th grade and above Boise Pony Club member in good‐standing may be a member of the Youth Board by expressing the desire to join. Once the have made this desire known to the Youth Board President, their name will be added to the Youth Board roster.

Officers – The Youth Board will consist of the following officers: President, Vice President (optional), Treasurer, Secretary. The officers must be in 8th grade or above and a member in good standing of the Boise Pony Club.

Advisor – The Boise Pony Club District Commissioner will appoint an adult advisor to the Youth Board.

President – The responsibilities of the President are as follows:

  1. Is appointed by the Boise Pony Club Board.
  2. To be the Youth Board chief administrator
  3. Acts as Liaison to the Boise Pony Club Board and attends their meetings

Vice President (optional) – The responsibilities of the Vice President are as follows:

  1. Is elected by the Youth Board membership
  2. To assist the President as needed

Treasurer – The responsibilities of the Treasurer are as follows:

  1. Is elected by the Youth Board membership
  2. Manages all income and expenditures. Maintains financial records in an orderly manner.

Secretary ‐ The responsibilities of the Secretary are as follows:

  1. Is elected by the Youth Board membership
  2. Takes notes at all meetings
  3. Maintains accurate notes and records

Quorum – A quorum consists when at least 1/3 of the membership is present.
Voting – All votes are determined by majority. In the case of a tie, the President will cast the deciding vote.
Meetings – The Youth Board is required to meet a minimum of 3 times per calendar year.
Nominating Committee – In the summer, the President will appoint a Nominating Committee of at least 2, and no more than 3 Youth Board members to act as the Nominating Committee. The Nominating Committee will submit the proposed slate of officers for the next year at the Fall meeting.
